SYSTEMIC RACISM: A BILINGUAL WORKSHOP

  • L'Euguélionne, feminist library 1426 Rue Beaudry Montréal, QC, H2L 3E5 Canada (map)
Led by Jenny-Laure Sully from IRIS and Quebec Solidaire's antiracist commission, the workshop first goes back in time to demonstrate how systemic racism is rooted in colonial history. The chronology of the residential school drama is reviewed. On the other hand, we analyze the definition of systemic racism and examine its manifestations in Quebecois, Canadian or foreign institutions. We conclude with a discussion of the practices and norms that perpetuate racism and we explore possible solutions. More info+
